Privacy Policy — Internal Knowledge Assistant
Last updated: August 16, 2026
Internal Knowledge Assistant (“the extension”) is a Chrome extension that provides a chat assistant in the browser side panel. It answers questions using our organization’s internal documents. This policy explains what data the extension handles.
What we collect. The only information the extension processes is the text you type into the chat (your questions). We do not collect your name, email address, passwords, financial information, location, browsing history, or the content of the web pages you visit.
How it is used. When you send a question, it is transmitted to our own backend service (built on Google Apps Script) and to Google’s Gemini API in order to generate an answer based on our internal documents. The question is used solely to produce that answer.
Data retention. The extension does not create user accounts and does not build a profile of you. Your questions are used only to generate a response and are not sold.
Sharing. We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties, except to the service providers named above (Google) strictly for the purpose of generating answers. We do not use your data for advertising, creditworthiness, or lending purposes.
Third-party services. Answers are generated using Google’s Gemini API. Google’s handling of data sent to its API is governed by Google’s own privacy terms.
Who can use it. This extension is intended for internal team use.
